Girls Track Coaching Staff

Aimee Walthall Michael/ Head Girls Track

I grew up in Mandeville, Louisiana, just north of New Orleans and ran track and cross country under the leadership of Bob Woodworth and Gerald Singer at Mandeville High School. Mandeville High School track and cross country teams were the most successful at competing in the state of Louisiana. My senior year, we were triple crown winning state cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. I competed in the 3200m, 1600m, and the occasionally 4 X 800m relay. I also competed in cross country at Southeastern Louisiana University as a walk on in 1995. At Mandeville High, I learned that distance running is a sport where you really need to stick with your training, sustain a goal setting mindset, and push yourself beyond what you previously believed you could do to be a competitor in the race.

I have 7 years experience coaching middle school cheerleading, 1 year coaching volleyball, 4 years coaching distance track, and 4 years coaching cross country. I also have 17 years experience as a swim coach and 10 years experience managing the waterfront at a summer camp.

Success happens when you do all of those things and you follow through with what you commit to do without making excuses.  The success of our team was a direct result of the commitment we had to training and to our team mates. My coaching philosophy fosters teamwork, responsibility, commitment, and hard work. Sports teams are for the purpose of developing a personal skill, a sense of school pride, a sense of self pride, an understanding of commitment, and willingness to perform for the greater good of a school community.  I am proud to serve the Meadowcreek Community as a track and cross country coach.

It has been a true blessing to not only have played football and get a degree from one of the best institutions in the land at The Ohio State University, but to learn another aspect now of coaching and mentoring student athletes in middle school, high school, and college. I have had the pleasure of being able to learn beside some of the greatest coaches in college football in Bill Curry and George Pugh at Georgia State University. I am excited for my future in not only coaching but mentoring student athletes and preparing them to be men on and off of the field.
