It was one of the iconic Gwinnett Daily Post photos of the time, a basketball preview image before the 2002-03 season that hyped the Collins Hill-Meadowcreek girls basketball rivalry.
On one side of the page stood Meadowcreek’s Sherida Triggs and Amber Holt, staring down Collins Hill’s Stacy Booker and Shannel Harris. The four seniors had just played for the state championship the season before, with the Eagles coming out on top.
“I still have that (newspaper),” Triggs said Wednesday morning.
The 30-year-old doesn’t lack for those kind of memories from her high school basketball career, part of a past that makes her an ideal fit in her new job — head girls basketball coach at Meadowcreek. She has played with the Mustangs, and at much higher levels, and most importantly remembers a time when her school was known for its girls basketball prowess.
