Who had the best record-breaking performance in Georgia? We took your nominations over the past week and here are the finalists:

Chance Seabolt – North Murray High School

Archery- On Saturday, May 13th, 2017, Chance Seabolt was awarded the highest achievement at the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) National Tournament for his shooting performance during the tournament this weekend in Louisville, KY. He shot a score of 298 out of 300 points, hitting the bulls-eye 29 times, outshooting 14,491 other archers. This was the first time anyone from a Georgia high school has been in the top five places.

Jamie Boatright – Hillgrove High School 

Baseball – Not only a starting pitcher for Region championship team, Jamie also finished the regular season as the starting 1B with highest batting avg. and RBI on Varsity. He is the current record Hillgrove record-holder for career varsity game starts.

Brook Goodrow – Forsyth Central High School

Football – First female player in the school’s 61 year history to score points during a varsity football game. A soccer player for 14 years, Brook decided to not play her senior year and try-out for the football team instead, kicking an extra point during the regular season vs. Meadowcreek.

Tylan Morton – Griffin High School

Tylan Morton

Football- Breaks the state record for passing yards in a season with 4,741. The record was last broken by former Georgia Bulldogs QB Hutson Mason.

Hope Glenn – Pope High School

Track & Field – 100, 200, 4×100 Champion

Ansley Jenkins – Creekview High School

Track & Field – Long Jump, 17’6 1/2″ – The last record was 16’7″, which happened last year. Ansley broke the record the beginning of this track season with a jump of 16’9″ and then broke her own record at sectionals with a jump of 17’6 1/2″.

Ahmad M. Perryman – Centennial High School

Track and Field –  400M record broken 2- 3x in one season – Ahmad broke the record at the 6A State Track and Field Meet May 13 and is both team MVP and received the Excalibur award. He also received one of 5 principal awards this year and is known in the community to be dedicated to the sport, being a servant, and encouraging even to his competition.

Julian McDuffie – Shiloh High School

Track and Field – 300M – 36.84 – All-Time Gwinnett County Record

George Lira – West Hall High School

Track and Field – 100M – 10.90 – Even with a injured knee he overcame the injury and made magic happen.

Nicole Fegans – Landmark Christian Academy

Track and Field – 1600M – 4:58.09 – Broke the 5-minute mile. The Landmark Christian senior and Georgia Tech signee went 4:58.09 in the 1,600 to win the Region 5-A title and advance to state.

Jonathan Ross – Shorter High School

Track and Field – 110M hurdles – 13.86

West Forsyth Gymnastics Team – West Forsyth High School

Won the State Championships with the highest ever recorded point total in state history at 114.167 and breaking the old state record by over 2 points. It was the first state title in school history.

The NFL Draft took place last week in Philadelphia. Held on the Rocky Steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, it was the first draft held entirely outdoors, and was the most attended in history with more than 250,000 people attending. Over three days, all 32 NFL teams chose players who they hope could be the future of their franchise.

In the next few pages, check out all the players drafted by their hometown high school, and vote for the region you think has grown the strongest draft class!
